BREAKING NEWS: David Emanuel Academy in flames
This afternoon, fire trucks and local authorities surrounded DEA as
visible flames poured out of the two-story building of the school.
As firefighters continue to battle the fire, the building appears
to be destroyed, and the middle school wing has sustained water damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it has been
reported that the fire began during an electrical (lightning) storm.
DEA parents and students gathered in support on the grounds.
Principal Marion Shaw spoke to the school family and comforted them.
"We are Eagles, and we will rise from this," Shaw said.
Students formed an assembly line to serve the firemen who have been battling the blaze for over three hours now.
School has been canceled for one week and will resume on Monday, August 23.
