We did pretty good
4/6/2010
Oh yeah! Hands down, this was the largest festival in our 17-year history. Not only that, but people came and they spent some money. The vendors left happy, and it was a boost to our local economy as well.

The secret is patience

I’ve never had much patience. Correction. I’ve don’t have any patience! And that’s a shame.

In support of our hosptial ...
9/3/2009
I’m really going to try to write a column to convince you to vote in
favor of a non-binding referendum that will, if you own property, cost
you money. Yes, I am. That is, if the county commissioners decide to
levy one mil to help support our hospital. And I feel that they will.

We can't 'help everybody out'
9/15/2009
The fourth line in the US Jaycee Creed reads, ‘Government should be of laws rather than of men.’ This short statement is one that I feel our commissioners should recite before every county meeting. There seems to be a trend with this administration to govern by ‘helping everyone out’—by fixing or undoing the things previous administrations had put into place.

Another Great Day
9/24/2009
Every year I have to answer the question, “Was this the biggest?” Well a few asked this year, but to those that have been attending or working with Another Bloomin’ Festival over the years, there is no doubt. The crowds came early and stayed late and they were hungry. Food vendors in the West Park had lines most of the day. McCray Family Reunion sold over 300 pounds of barbecue by 2:30 p.m. Stump Cassie from Florida who has attended 15 of our 16 festivals fried up over 250 lbs. of bloomin’ onions.

We were lucky!

Michael Guido has been a friend for as long as I can remember. Of course I met him and Audrey through my Mother since I was only a young lad when they decided on Metter for their ministry and their home.
